Hittegods Hittestaket and Hittegjerde

Hittegods Hittestaket and Hittegjerde

Hittegods to be found back in the Hittestaket or Hittegjerde. Three businessmen found at the Vondelpark discussing the Norwegian, Danish and Hungarian translation of the word Vindhek.
This word doesn´t exist! says Laszlo from Hungaria. And I explain to him that indeed I invented the word myself as a title to the art installation. Now I am looking for proper translations that will do justice to the Dutch original word which reflects exactly what it is, in a very concise way, brief, clear and comprehensible. Trovappiglio, the Italian translation is a good example, useful and usable.
hittegods Hittestaket

A business trip to Amsterdam

Flemming from Denmark, Harald from Norway and Laszlo from Hungary Magyarország are on a business trip. During their lunch break they take a leisure walk and stroll around the beautiful Vondelpark.
Amazing, great, says Laszlo when discovering the Findfence in the middle of het vast park. And of course Flemming is kindly invited to visit the Danish page  Hvordan wirker Hittehegn on this website that explains what the Hittestaket is all about.

” Dat woord bestaat niet “, zegt de Hongaar Laszlo als hij met zijn twee zakenvrienden – zij vertegenwoordigen hun landen in de toeristenbranche – de vertalingen op het bord bij het Vindhek leest. Elveszett és megtalált, Lost and Found. Daardoor ontstaat een gesprek. Het is inderdaad een zelfbenoemde titel. Harald uit Noorwegen kan volledig instemmen met de Noorse vertaling Hittegjerde. Flemming vindt dat het hele woord hittegods, dat verloren voorwerpen betekent, in het Deense Hittestaket zou moeten voorkomen. Ze tonen zich alledrie behulpzame meedenkers. Tak, takk, köszönöm, thank you, dank u wel.

Denmark very cool

Denmark, Copenhagen

is the home base of Joy and Karl. They have a stroll in the Vondelpark on an early Sunday morning. “Very Cool” Joy says with a big smile on her face as she looks curiously at the Vindhek Vondelpark Findfence.

The Findfence is full of notes again. Love notes, Thank you notes, all cheerful, sunny, merry and amusing. There is also a note from other tourist from Denmark. Of course with a little heart drawn next to the text. There are scribbles from France, Portugal, Italy, Romania, Turkey and so on.

Peace to everyone

And there is a call for peace, in Dutch – in the handwriting of a child: “Everybody who reads this must see that there will be peace for everyone”
